Strategic Initiatives
Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite has led and delivered several transformational programmes spanning trade reform, industrial development, public finance, and community growth. Her work cuts across national policymaking, economic empowerment, investment mobilisation, and grassroots impact, reflecting her commitment to building a stronger and more inclusive Nigerian economy.
Under the leadership of the Honourable Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, several programs and policy initiatives have been introduced to improve Nigeria’s economic competitiveness, increase financial inclusion, and promote sustainable growth. The projects below are key parts of her work in the Ministry of Industry, Trade & Investment and the Ministry of Finance.
Flagship Projects
Trade, Industrial Export and Development Projects
As Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Uzoka-Anite re-launched the Nigerian Trade Policy 2023–2027, a major framework designed to integrate SMEs into global value chains and position Nigeria competitively in world markets. Through her efforts, strategic partnerships were secured with the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the International Trade Centre (ITC), supporting digital trade, export certification reform, and standards compliance.
She also drove investment mobilization exceeding $30 billion under the Renewed Hope Agenda, targeting capital inflows towards MSMEs and scalable industries. This was backed by the establishment of One-Stop Export Processing Centres to reduce bottlenecks and support easier certification and international shipment for exporters.
Another major initiative under her leadership was the revitalization of the Lagos International Trade Fair Complex, which achieved a major revenue recovery and contributed over ₦430 million to the federal purse in early 2024.
Enterprise, MSME & Industrial Support Programmes
Dr. Uzoka-Anite provided targeted support to nano-businesses, MSMEs and manufacturers through the Presidential Palliative Programme, which was designed to cushion economic pressures for small producers and support scale-up of local enterprises.
She also championed industrial cluster development, starting with the Light-Up Agbara Power Initiative, which ensures reliable power supply to manufacturing clusters, critical for increasing industrial productivity.
One of the core institutional reforms she led was the establishment of CrediCorp, a federal agency designed to expand access to credit for households and businesses, ensuring affordable capital for growth.
Labour & Human Capital Development Projects
While in Trade and Investment, she launched two national workforce-development programmes:
- The National Talent Export Programme (NATEP)
- The Skill-Up Artisans Programme (SUPA)
Both initiatives aim to expand global opportunities for Nigerian talent and certify up to 10 million artisans in trades such as carpentry, mechanics, and construction.
Fiscal & Financial Reform Projects
As Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Uzoka-Anite continues to contribute structural reforms to strengthen Nigeria’s financial systems. Her priorities include:
- Broadening the non-oil tax base
- Improving revenue collection and expenditure controls
- Modernizing the insurance sector
- Deepening and diversifying the capital market
- Maintaining a prudent debt strategy that sustains economic growth
She played a pivotal role in the passage of two landmark national bills:
- The Investment and Securities Act 2025
- The Nigerian Insurance Industry Reform Act (NIIRA) 2025
These reforms are expected to improve investor confidence, stimulate capital flows, and strengthen the regulatory framework across Nigeria’s financial ecosystem.
Government–Private Sector Collaboration Initiative
In 2025, she launched the Government–Private Sector (GPS) Dialogue Series, a formal policy-business roundtable designed to connect policymakers and private sector leaders in continuous dialogue.
The inaugural edition, themed “Finance and SME Growth Roundtable,” was held in Lagos and brought together heads of federal agencies, state government officials, industrial leaders and business associations.
Community Development Projects
Beyond national policymaking, Dr. Uzoka-Anite remains deeply committed to grassroots impact in her home state of Imo.
She:
- Built a functional health centre and ICT centre in Orsu-Obodo, Oguta LGA
- Installed solar streetlights in Oru Ward to improve safety and mobility
- Provided rice and fertilizer palliatives across multiple communities, supporting households and farmers during economic hardship
These projects reflect her continued dedication to improving welfare and access to services at the community level
