The Federal Ministry of Finance has confirmed the disbursement of a total sum of ₦152 billion to contractors for duly verified contracts, reaffirming its commitment to transparency, accountability, and responsible fiscal management. Following the confirmation of payment, several contractors formally expressed their appreciation and publicly thanked the Honourable Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, for the timely disbursement and the Ministry’s efforts in resolving long‑standing payment obligations.
Speaking on the development, the Honourable Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, emphasized that every payment processed by the Ministry undergoes rigorous verification in strict compliance with extant laws, regulations, and financial control mechanisms. This approach, she noted, is designed to safeguard taxpayers’ funds while ensuring that only legitimate and verified obligations are honoured.
“I wish to confirm that the Federal Ministry of Finance has disbursed a total of ₦152 billion to contractors for verified contracts. Every payment undergoes rigorous verification in accordance with extant laws and regulations, ensuring the protection of taxpayers’ funds and upholding accountability and transparency,” the Minister stated.
The Ministry acknowledged the financial pressures that delays in payment may have imposed on contractors, particularly in the context of prevailing economic conditions. Dr. Uzoka-Anite assured stakeholders that the Ministry remains committed to continuous dialogue and constructive engagement, with a view to resolving outstanding issues and preventing future disputes. She reiterated that the Ministry’s doors remain open for engagement, stressing that collaboration and mutual understanding are essential to maintaining trust between government institutions and the private sector.
While reaffirming its support for contractors, the Ministry also called on all stakeholders to respect established processes and the personnel responsible for implementing them. The Minister noted that Ministry officials have continued to discharge their duties with professionalism and dedication, despite facing varying degrees of intimidation and harassment in the course of their work. “The processes exist to protect all parties involved and to ensure fairness. Our personnel have demonstrated unwavering commitment to their responsibilities, and they deserve the cooperation and respect of all stakeholders,” she said.
The Ministry of Finance assured contractors that all valid payment requests will continue to be treated with diligence and processed in line with due process. Dr. Uzoka-Anite reaffirmed the Ministry’s resolve to ensure that payments are handled consistently, transparently, and as timely as possible, in alignment with government fiscal policies and budgetary provisions.
